Bad Day For Eldora

My sister works at Eldora, and they had a pretty crappy day. My thoughts go out to Brian's family and friends as well as the entire Eldora community.

Here's the story.

Winter has arrived

It's snowing, and snowing hard. Skied with the family up at Shawnee Peak today, it was good- cold, but good. A lot of folks missed out today, it'll be interesting to see how bails on work to make turns tomorrow.

I'll be at work, or at least for most of the day. I'm guessing that school will get canceled, so we shall see how that works.

Well that's it from here, it's snowing, it's winter and the holidays are in full swing. Enjoy them!

Snow is on the way!

Winter is almost "officially" here, and we look to be getting into a bit of a now cycle (at least I'm being optimistic about that). We picked up 5" earlier in the week and it looks like starting this evening we'll pick up a bit of snow each day through the weekend. That is what you need for a good snowpack- a lot of small storms!

We'll be out skiing this weekend over at Shawnee Peak, I'm pretty excited to see what they've opened up for new terrain for the weekend as they picked up some natural snow and have been really getting after it with snowmaking.

We'll see if we can get some photos of skiing up this weekend.

Until then....

First Day With the Family

We loaded up the truck and headed over to Shawnee Peak yesterday for our first day out on the hill as the Cole Clan. The girls had gotten up at around 6am and had been bugging K and I to get up and get going, but it was a Sunday morning- sleeping in until 8am should be allowed!

We finally got up and going (I wish Emma could get dressed that fast for school!) and we hit the road. The mountain looked good, they had opened up a bit more terrain since Saturday, and the O and V were open (bonus to anyone who figures out what I mean by that).

Both Lillo and Emma were a bit nervous at first, but about two turns in they were comfortable and ready to ski. It wasn't long before we ran into my parents and we had three generations of Coles out ripping around.

It was a great way to start the season and we're ready for more!

It's snowing!

Are you ready to get out and ski? If you aren't then you are going to be missing out on a great season. We're going to explore skiing all winter long- right here, with stories, photos, video, links, and your feedback as well.

By the way it's snowing- so we'll see you out on the hill!
